Dress Up Makeover

Sophia is entering the Disney Princess stage. We love all things princess, dress up, make up, and everything in between! She has a huge stash of princess dresses, and although I love to see her use her imagination, I hate trying to find a spot to put them away when she's finished and has them scattered on her playroom floor. So I searched pinterest for some ideas on how to keep them from becoming rugs. Pinterest came through, as it always does. I found this pin and knew it had to be done. Here is how my Pinterest project went.
Joey's mom was getting rid of this tc stand that she had in the basement..score!!
Thanks to S, I had this thing painted in no time! Look at how quickly she gets it done.
She decided that supervising was the best job for her.

Finally got the painting done.
I found a small shower rod at Target, and these awesome battery powered lights at Menards.
The most difficult part of this project? Cleaning the playroom to make way for the new addition.
Once I got the room cleared, I had Joey help me carry the new dress up wardrobe into the playroom so I could finish it up.
Yay! The project was completed and Sophia loves it. I am so happy with how this project turned out.

  1. Was that particle board? How did you paint it? Thanks!

    1. Hello Manda,
This was not made of particle board.
I brushed on my first layer of paint and used a roller for the next two coats of paint. I did not sand the wood prior to painting, which may or may not come back to haunt me. :)

Please let me know if you have any more questions.

    1. So sorry Dawn-Marie Miller! I hadn't seen your comment until just now. The mirror is hung on the wall with some nails. I decided to keep the back side of the entertainment center open in case we decide to reuse this for another project. Hope that helps :)

  3. We have a tv stand that I am attempting to do this with but it's partical board. Do you know if regular paint will cover? I guess I can ask when I go to home depot. :)

  4. Susan Oliver - I have one just like this. It's pressed wood with bright, shiny varnish on it. Do you think I can refinish it? probably not for a child but maybe a cabinet or a shorter TV stand. Thanks for your help.

  5. I love this idea. May I ask the dimensions of this cabinet. All the ones I am finding are 160cm+ which is just too big for our space. But I love this idea!
